Map the final footprint first
Mark the sofa’s full width and overall depth with low-tack tape. Add chaise, open sleeper bed, extended recliner, ottoman and side-table positions. Leave room to reach outlets and heating controls.
Walk the route through the room, open storage and simulate ordinary activity. A technically valid footprint can still block conversation, views or movement. Photograph the tape plan before removing it.
Measure clear openings, not nominal doors
Open each door fully and measure the narrowest clear width between the door and opposite jamb. Measure clear height under closers or trim. Removeable doors may help, but do not assume the delivery service will take them off.
